17th ITS European Congress

ISTANBUL, TURKEY
27-29 April 2026

The 17th ITS European Congress took place 27–29 April 2026 in Istanbul, bringing together stakeholders from Europe and beyond to explore pioneering solutions for integrated, safe and seamless mobility. Organised by ERTICO-ITS Europe, in collaboration with the European Commission and hosted by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and ISBAK.

MITHOS was represented by Alfonso Brazalez from CEIT, who presented the project under Session SIS 8 — «Bridging Innovation: Integrated, Safe and Seamless Mobility».

The presentation introduced MITHOS as an AI-powered cloud platform designed to consolidate multimodal transportation data and enable faster, smarter infrastructure decisions, highlighting the four pilot cities and their specific use cases.

Special focus was given to the Bilbao pilot site, where MITHOS will assess the feasibility of reactivating the Nervión estuary as an inland waterway (IWW) for last-mile logistics. The expected outcomes include reducing emissions and road traffic pressure, avoiding future bottlenecks at Zorrozaurre access points, promoting modal shift through sustainable last-mile delivery, and reducing road and bridge maintenance costs.
